YouK’s Distillery & Vineyard Tour Picks
Coles Family Brewery & Distillery, Carmarthenshire
Coles produce a range of ales from their pub, set in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside in the village of Llanddarog. Their distillery is also in the dark timber-clad building no different to a large garden shed nestles between the trees and the lush green grass. As the doors are opened your jaw drops as the cathedral-like interior faces you. Set at the far end is a large still with two columns stood in front, shining as the sunlight reflects off the stainless steel.
Southwestern Distillery, Cornwall
Southwestern Distillery is an award-winning distillery based on the beautiful, windswept Cornish coast. They have developed a range of small-batch distilled gin expressions using botanicals from around the world as well as from their very own back garden. More recently they added a Pastis to their range, the first to be commercially distilled in the UK.
Three Choirs Vineyard, Gloucestershire
Experience one of England’s oldest vineyards by sleeping amongst the vines, eating at the brasserie and tasting Three Choirs award-winning English wine.
Starting at the Cellar Door, their wine tasting tour guides take you to the edge of the vines, inspiring and informing you as they explain the growing process. Then wander to the Winery to uncover the winemaking process, from grape to bottle. Breathe in, taste and delight in the wines for yourself as you try four of Three Choirs finest wine samples during the tour. After the guide has finished, either go straight through to our brasserie for lunch or follow our vineyard walk, taking in different points of interest along the way.
Gordon Castle Gin, Moray
Gordon Castle’s award-winning premium gin is handcrafted using botanicals grown in their very own Scottish Walled Garden, bringing you an air of history and provenance in every sip. For something a little different, why not try their raspberry or plum gin liqueur, infused using fruit grown in their eight-acre garden.
Gordon Castle Walled Garden is an ongoing renovation project to breathe life back into this historic Scottish treasure. At over eight acres, The Walled Garden at Gordon Castle is one of the largest in the country and once restored will be the largest fully productive walled garden in Scotland.
Abhainn Dearg Distillery, Outer Hebrides
Abhainn Dearg Distillery is located in Uig on the Isle of Lewis and is the first legal whisky distillery in the Outer Hebrides in almost two hundred years. They have crafted a Single Malt with real island heritage using local ingredients.
